Bio-Baba are offering readers of African Babies Don't Cry the opportunity to win one of their fantastic all-in-one cloth nappies, worth R185! Simply read to the end to find out how.
On receiving the Bio-Baba nappy to review, the first thing I noticed is what a great looking nappy this is. Bio-Baba nappies are available in a range of colours including buttercup, and the awesomely named African sunset. I received the desert sand, and the hemp lining is the cutest pale green check.
This is a top of the range cloth nappy; a deluxe hemp nappy that is the ultimate in versatility and efficiency. This award winning all-in-one 'no-fuss' nappy has been pegged as South Africa's 'easiest to use', 'most convenient' and 'nicest looking' cloth nappy! (Fit Pregnancy March 2009) Because it is an ALL-IN-ONE nappy - you get the nappy PLUS waterproof PLUS super absorbent HEMP BOOSTER so you don't have to pay for extra waterproofs or boosters - EVERY nappy comes with a one! Also - the clever design features make it suitable for every day nappies, night nappies (just add a booster), swim nappies (take out the booster) & potty training, making Bio-Babas the most versatile and cost effective fitted nappy option around! Bio-BabaThe Bio-Baba nappy is a great fitting nappy, especially for toddlers, and although it can be adjusted to fit smaller babies too, I can imagine it would be quite bulky. I found that it fit Jesse fantastically, with room to grow and was super comfy. Its such a soft and squishy nappy, no hard lines or bits that rub and aggravate soft baby skin. The nappy is made from 100% natural fibers, which make it such a great nappy for those hot African days, as it breathes wonderfully.

Hemp is recognized as one of the world’s strongest natural fibers – the more you wash it – the more absorbent it becomes! It also has anti-bacterial qualities and uses no pesticides in its growth. As the hemp is so absorbent, it means that the Super-Slim Bio-Baba is not bulky and dries well.
The nappy is fastened with velcro straps, although babies skin is well protected from the scratchiness. I am always worried about velcro, because Jesse has figured out how to pull it open, however, the Bio-Baba nappy's velcro strips are quite thin (allowing for overlapping to create and even smaller nappy) and Jesse couldn't pull them open - although he gave it a good shot! The nappy has elasticated leg gussets which let it fit snugly and snaps to adjust the length of the nappy.
With the hemp booster pad in, this nappy was great for nighttime, we had absolutely no leaking at all and although the nappy was full in the morning, Jesse was still reasonably dry. I was very impressed by the absorbency, considering the booster pad is so thin!
I love all-in-one nappies, they are so convenient, and this one washed especially well, and dried reasonably fast when hung in the sun.
Bio-Baba use small underprivileged companies in Lotus River, Mitchells Plain and Athlone for their manufacturing, making this nappy not only good for your baby, but good for South Africa too!
The nappy can even be used as a swim nappy without the booster pad, although we did not get to try this ourselves in this icy weather.
