Jesse has had a recent and rather vigorous growth spurt, at the start of winter his gran bought him a stock of winter pajamas to last through the season, these no longer fit! The legs are too short, too tight and the tops are too, and we have a good few months of winter left before us still!
Along with the growth, Jess's talking has started to flourish. He pronounces so many new sounds, and for the first time has really started to chatter. He says quite a few new words, and manages to get his meaning across to me perfectly between these few words and his own sign language. Parenting has become so much easier now that he is able to communicate so much more, and he is even a happier little soul now that he understands so much more. Jesse has started to be more aware of strangers, not in terms of shyness, but he seems definitely puts on a show for any new people, and gets so excited. If the new person happens to be a child, then the excitement literally bubbles out of him and it takes hours to calm him down. He just loves company so much, although he isn't so good with children his own age. He's used to spending days playing with dogs whose ears he can pull, who he can throw his leftover banana to, and who he can sit on top of... none of this behaviour goes down well with other children however... surprisingly?

After a lovely mild start to winter, the temperatures have started to drop. The days are still warm enough to sit outside in the sun in shorts and a t-shirt, but the minute the sun drops behind a could or goes down for the evening the temperatures drop drastically. This past Sunday we had such an awfully windy day, with the wind coming straight off the Drakensburg which is covered in snow resulting in bitter cold. We spent a rare day indoors playing in front of the fireplace.

Jesse continues to enjoy spending most of the day outside playing with the dogs or following the chickens into crevices and then calling me to come and gets him out. He still requires much of my attention, and I find myself not getting as much done as usual, but I'm sure we will get into a nice groove again.

The photo with the flower and the dog are so sweet!! Of course Jesse's face alone is enough.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to catch up!
Whenever he sees a flower (or anything that resembles a flower) he has to smell it, so, so cute ;)
DeleteIt's so nice to hear an update from you! I can relate so much to the lack of organization that makes it hard to keep up. I feel like I'm behind in every arena right now, and I know it would be possible to catch up if I didn't spend so much time walking in circles!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like there has been some tremendous growth with Jesse! It must be so fun to hear him beginning to chatter. That's one of my favorite things! Now hopefully you can get your hands on some bigger pajamas ;)
At least you have a really good excuse for any disorganization... I have none ;) Its amazing how quickly things seem to get on top of you... I can barely find the time to comb my hair lately O.O
DeleteSo glad you made it back :) and that Jesse is beginning to talk, now the real fun can start. I love trying to figure out what all the new baby words mean!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I used to brag that I understood everything Jess was saying between his sign language and odd word here and there... now, he babbles along and I am left flummoxed as to what on earth he is going on about... and he gives just me this exasperated look! Lol :)
DeleteOh my goodness, the eyes, the eyes!! He is just so freakin' beautiful! Alas, I totally empathise with the disorganisation and the being behind on this project. I am still uploading photos from August!!! I am not proud of this but I am super happy that I am still keeping going. Isn't it such a fun project?
ReplyDeletethat first photo of Jesse is just gorgeous. Keep 'em coming, please!! :)
Its so inspiring how passionate you are about this project! Ive been out of it for so long now.... feel totally unmotivated :(
