I have been dabbling with a raw food diet for a while, but suffer terribly with cravings and so have not managed to eat high raw just yet. But, I have decided to be a bit easier on myself and take it slow. For now, I have committed to eating raw till lunch. I will then eventually commit to eating raw till lunch plus a 50% raw lunch and so on.
I don't think I will ever undertake to eat a 100% raw diet, however I would like to one day get to a 75% raw diet.
I am a vegetarian, and currently eat seafood (which I love and wont be giving up any time soon), a tiny amount of dairy and the occasional egg. I further commit to a vegan diet till lunch.
Hopefully reporting back to you every Monday will keep me in line :)
Back to my constant battle with cravings... I have been diagnosed with Candida overgrowth, I also suffer hyperglycaemia both of which contribute to a constant craving and weakness for sugar. The morning are also when my metabolism is at its fastest meaning I am constantly hungry until it slows down after lunch.
So, this is what my morning will look like:
Green Juice on waking, Jesse shares this with me - he thoroughly enjoys it and loves to drink it through a straw. Find my favourite green juice recipe here.

A fruit smoothie - here is a recipe for my favourite at the moment:
- A frozen banana or two, depending on their size
- A fresh date - which helps bate the sugar cravings
- A teaspoon of cinnamon - a powerful antioxidant
- Dessicated coconut / fresh coconut or a bit of coconut milk
- Filtered water
I blend all this up with a stick blender (I am currently coveting a Vita-mix) and enjoy.

My metabolism is most active in the morning, so I am usually hungry again within an hour of drinking the smoothie. I then chop up some fruit and share this with Jesse. If I feel hungry again before lunch I eat a few raw nuts, usually almonds as these contain high levels of calcium.
I am also going to use this space to share recipe's that I have made and enjoyed. I recently came across this recipe for a Polenta and Aubergine Casserole from Mindful Momma which both myself and my husband thoroughly enjoyed and I would definitely make again.
Are any of you trying to eat healthier? What changes have you made to your diet?
